Gaelscoil Aogáin

Suite ar Bhóthar an Choláiste in Oileán Chiarraí, is scoil lán-Ghaeilge muid.

Situated on College Road, our school is committed to Irish-medium immersion, giving students daily opportunities to learn through the language across the curriculum. Our Parents’ Council is very active and always welcomes new members who wish to support and enrich school life.

Across the school, we provide 30 Chromebooks to enhance learning and digital literacy, and we run an after-school coding club for pupils interested in technology, creativity, and problem-solving.

Irish is at the heart of our education, and we strongly believe in the benefits of bilingual education in Irish and English. Bilingual learning supports literacy in both languages and enhances cognitive development. A recent study on “dual-language literacy” in Irish immersion schools shows marked improvements in both Irish and English literacy among pupils who begin reading through Irish early in the curriculum.

Our Staff

Alongside our dedicated teachers, our Learning Support Team—made up of three experienced staff members—works to support every learner, whatever their needs. They collaborate closely with class teachers to plan and deliver personalised assistance in literacy, numeracy, and other core skills. Support may be provided in-class, in small groups, or one-to-one, depending on what best suits each child. Their goal is to help students build confidence, develop effective learning strategies, and thrive in an inclusive, caring environment.
